The collaboration between Silvia Furmanovich and Mika Ferrari is a harmonious blend of artistry, nature, and alchemy. Furmanovich, celebrated for her distinctive approach to jewelry inspired by nature, art, and diverse cultural influences, finds an ideal partner in Brazilian born artist and alchemist Mika Ferrari, known for transforming raw, natural materials into unique artistic expressions. Together, they push the boundaries of traditional jewelry, blending Furmanovich’s expertise in unique techniques and gemstones with Ferrari’s innovative techniques in talismans and alchemical transformations.
This collaboration brings forth pieces that reflect both a deep respect for nature and a commitment to artistry. Furmanovich’s passion for one-of-a-kind jewelry meets Ferrari’s mastery in creating unexpected, almost magical transformations with materials, resulting in jewelry that feels like a journey through ancient and mystical worlds. Their collection showcases not just the beauty of precious stones and intricate designs but also an appreciation for the stories and energies inherent in each material, making each piece a true conversation between nature and craft.
The fish pendant represents oceanic energy; Ferrari used a mix of seashell gravel from northeastern Brazil combined with a mix of 10 types of sand from Brazilian beaches. The combination of the gravel and sands represent the evolutionary process of leaving the ocean. Coastal energy is very symptomatic for everyone as something relaxing and pleasant. And the idea here was to bring some of that energy into everyday life.
This is a very special alchemical composition in what Ferrari perceived to be the most evolved version of the four elements. For the sea, Ferrari used the mystical and powerful Dead Sea salt. For the air element, Ferrari used fulgurite, which is a fossilized lightning, appearing when the electrical discharge hits the damp beach sand. For the earth element, Ferrari used two versions: another type of salt, but at altitude, the intense and mystical black salt from the sacred valley of the Incas, at an altitude of 3,200 meters; and a Brazilian resin called pitch, typical of northern Brazil, and widely used by local people for spiritual purifications. For the fire element, Ferrari used a shamanic ash produced by my group, the fire eagles, which brings the ancestral energy of flames to act in cleansing and transmutation.
The pendant serves as a vessel for perfume or essential oils in the shape of a bee.
The quintessence of honey is a very long alchemical laboratory process that aims to extract the purest properties of honey into a unique and lifelong compound, which maintains all its physical and metaphysical particularities ad eternum. In other words, a special energy that will remain intact and bring benefits to those who use it now and for future generations. This is the idea of the fifth element: it is beyond the fleeting and simple questions of the world of matter. And it benefits us with its very high vibration.
