Brazilian fine jeweler Silvia Furmanovich is pleased to debut a collaboration with Columbian-based, homeware design company Moye, founded by sisters Tatiana and Maria Cabal.
The pieces from the capsule collection are inspired by paintings and drawings of the botanical expeditions of biologists José Celestino Mutis and Alexander von Humboldt, who travelled to Colombia during the 18thand 19th centuries.
Drawing on richly colored motifs based on the natural world, the collection features imagery of guava fruit, tropical flowers and birds. These are masterfully applied to earrings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants, as well as on hand mirrors and vide poche trays, which represent Furmanovich’s recent foray into home.
Each piece in the collection is meticulously handcrafted by an exceptional community of artisans living in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, specializing in the centuries-old art of marquetry. Marquetry involves assembling paper-thin veneers of wood to create intricate designs, a traditional craft that has been given a new interpretation by Furmanovich in recent years. The pieces from the collection are set in 18k gold adorned with precious stones and diamonds.
The aesthetic synergy between Moye’s wallpapers, reflecting the source and beauty of nature, and Silvia Furmanovich’s jewelry, inspired by Brazil’s flora and fauna, was a perfect match for a creative partnership. Both brands share a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and design with a Latin sensibility.
