As a continuation of The Heirloom Project - the concept spearheaded by designer Madeline Weinrib which seeks engagement with global craftspeople who pursue ancient techniques and design principles - Silvia Furmanovich has designed three pieces especially for the Museum of Fine Art, Houston during Spring 2023.

The pieces from this collaboration celebrate the museum's renovated Islamic Wing.

Unknown Central Asian Shakhrisyabz Suzani, c. 1800, Uzbekistan, Cotton; embroidered with silk thread

For the museum, Furmanovich designed two pairs of earrings and a clutch which drew on a Central Asian Shakhrisyabz Suzani from. 1800, from Uzbekistan.

The designer worked to convey the intricate pattern and kaleidoscopic range of colors found in suzani fabrics, which were traditionally designed as part of wedding dowries made by female members of a bride's family.

Pilgrim Flask, India, 17th Century, Brass; cast and incised
